Remembering John Chrysler
Masonry Institute of America and Western States Clay Products
Executive Director

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of John Chrysler on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
John’s impact on the masonry industry in California and beyond cannot be overstated. He was an important technical resource and masonry advocate for over 50 years before he retired from the Masonry Institute of America (MIA) in 2021 and left California for the open sky of Texas. MCAC celebrated his retirement at our 166th State Meeting in Scottsdale, AZ November 2021.
He experienced some health issues related to his heart at The Masonry Society (TMS) meeting in Colorado a couple of weeks ago and sent an email providing assurances and an update on his condition Friday, May 1. Sadly, two days later he passed away.
We will share remembrance information and a more complete tribute when available.
In the meantime, MCAC extends our heartfelt sympathy to John’s wife, Debby, their children, family, friends, and to all who knew and worked alongside him.
